1. Vietnam: E-Visa and Exemptions
Vietnam has significantly simplified its entry processes. As of late 2023, citizens from all countries and territories are eligible to apply for an electronic visa (E-Visa) which is valid for up to 90 days, single or multiple entry.
Visa Exemptions
Several nationalities benefit from visa exemptions. For example, citizens of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK can enter Vietnam for up to 45 days without a visa. Please ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of arrival and has at least two blank pages.
2. Laos: Visa on Arrival and E-Visa
Entering Laos is straightforward for most travelers. You have two main options: Visa on Arrival (VOA) or the E-Visa.
- Visa on Arrival: Available at major international airports (Vientiane, Luang Prabang, Pakse) and most land borders. You will need a passport photo, the application form, and the fee (usually $30-$40 paid in crisp US Dollars).
- E-Visa: Available for tourism purposes and valid for a 30-day stay. It is highly recommended to apply online to save time at the immigration counters.
3. Cambodia: E-Visa Process
Similar to its neighbors, Cambodia makes it easy for tourists. The Cambodian E-Visa is the most convenient way to obtain your entry permit before you travel.
Pro Tip from our Experts
If you are doing a multi-country tour (e.g., Vietnam to Cambodia via the Mekong River), ensure your entry point accepts E-Visas. Certain remote border crossings only process physical visas or Visa on Arrival.
4. Health and Requirements
While visas are the primary concern, do not forget to check the latest health requirements. Currently, there are no mandatory vaccinations for entry unless you are arriving from a yellow fever endemic zone. However, vaccinations for Typhoid and Hepatitis A are strongly recommended.
